How God Designed Us

The Wellness Wheel highlights the nine key components that shape who we are—each one influencing our mind, body, and spirit as God designed us.
Get to know these nine areas below.

Intellectual

Growing in our knowledge of God and His world and applying knowledge wisely.

TIPS:

Read, watch a documentary, do a puzzle, or learn a new skill

"Intelligent people are always ready to learn.
Their ears are open for knowledge."

Proverbs 18:15

Financial

Stewarding God's material gifts to serve God's purposes.

TIPS:

Financial counseling, tithing, or philanthropy

“No one can serve two masters. For you will hate one and love the other; you will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and be enslaved to money.”

Luke 16:13

Emotional

Acknowledging our emotions to God and allowing Him to inform our words, thoughts, and actions.

TIPS:

Counseling, journaling, mindfulness, or do art

"Always be full of joy in the Lord. I say it again—rejoice! Let everyone see that you are considerate in all you do. Remember, the Lord is coming soon. Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus."

Philippians 4:4-7

Social

Living intentionally in loving, truth-filled community with others.

TIPS:

Join a small group, book club, or join a support group

"So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other. Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples.”

John 13:34-35

Physical

Treating our bodies as God's temple through diet, exercise, sleep, and medical care.

TIPS:

Try a new recipe, meditate on a favorite verse before bed, or do ten minutes of stretching

"Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself, for God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body."

1 Corinthians 6:19-20

Occupational

Using our God-given skills and passions for His glory and our fulfillment.

TIPS:

Counseling, life coaching, or career assessment

"Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people."

Colossians 3:23

Environmental

Finding joy in the beauty of God's creation and in being a creator of beauty after His image.

TIPS:

Get out in nature, snuggle with a pet, or decorate a room

"The heavens proclaim the glory of God.
   The skies display his craftsmanship."
